Never stack glassware, and avoid picking up multiple items at once. Thermal shock happens when glass is exposed to sudden temperature changes, such as pouring hot liquids into a cold vessel. Allow glassware to come to room temperature before adding hot or cold contents, and avoid rinsing hot glass under cold water.
