Alpine Appliance Installations Ltd. is the original installation and service company for the legendary AGA cooker in Canada.
In 1986 Bruce Johnstone's Alpine Appliance Installations Ltd., was selected as the first Canadian company to be trained and certified on installation and service for the legendary AGA cooker here in Canada. Quite an honor when you realize the cooker has been around since the1930's.
The AGA cooker is a heat storage range and cooker. The AGA cooker works on the principle that the heavy framed interior made of cast iron absorbs heat from a relatively low-intensity fuel supply. This fuel supply is a continuously burning source. The accumulated heat can then be used for cooking, by radiating that stored heat out of the cast iron. Invented and initially produced in Sweden, it has been manufactured in the UK since the 1930's.
Bruce Johnstone was appointed as the Canadian representative for AGA in the 1980's through the late 1990's so when it comes to the AGA there are not many that can beat his knowledge of this iconic cooker.
"Let me teach you how to cook a mouthwatering meal with ease the AGA way", Bruce often tells new AGA owners.
Alpine specializes in the installation, servicing and rebuilding of the traditional AGA cooker. Alpine also has specialized moving equipment for all the "new" AGA cookers as these models are no longer assembled and built on site, but moved as one unit. Alpine has the most comprehensive knowledge and inventory for all models of AGA. Alpine is the only installation company in western Canada with access to the computer programming system for the all-new electric Total Control AGA.
To correctly install a traditional AGA cooker it can take upwards of two days from delivery to "firing up a build".
Each AGA cooker is hand built in the traditional way of excellent craftsmanship!
Have a look at one of the builds below!
AGA cooker, british stove, AGA, AGA cooking. AGA dealer, AGA cooking dealer,
It all starts with uncrating and moving over 1650 lbs of cast iron in the residence. Careful setting up of the base and platform is required.
It is important that all the panels be sealed prior to building to maintain gasket integrity.
If the AGA is not set up correctly from the foundation of the build, the main components will not allow a level cooking surface. It is critical that each step is checked and double checked before proceeding.
After all the checking, we now get to install the front face and do more gasket sealing and an audit of the build so far.
At this point we have insulated and packed the insulating rock wool and vermiculite 3/4 of the way up. All gaskets and seals must be installed and another analysis of fittings and adjustments are completed .
More checking, adjusting, gas flue way sealing, all so critically important to the AGA and all of the components. Step by step is comes together.
Great job Jeff !!
There is so much that goes into the assembling of a traditional AGA cooker. From the kitchen design many months back, even years in some cases to the fuel services, the venting, delivery and assembly.

These owners now have seven cooking stations. Ovens that will roast, bake, simmer, warm, and hold food. On the top deck there is a boiling and simmering plate to cook on as well as a warming deck to keep your plates, tea and coffee warm. And yes the ovens will fit a 30 lb bird !!
