The World’s Best Cooking Experience.
Alpine Appliance Installations Ltd. is the original installation and service company for the legendary AGA cooker in Canada.
In 1986 Alpine Appliance Installations Ltd. was selected as the first Canadian company to be trained and certified on installation and service for the legendary AGA.
The AGA is a heat storage range which is referred to as a "cooker." The AGA cooker works on the principle that the heavily framed interior made of cast iron absorbs heat from a relatively low-intensity fuel supply, either gas or electric. This fuel supply is continuously heating the cast iron. The accumulated heat can then be used for cooking by evenly radiating that stored heat out of the cast iron ovens.
The AGA cooker was invented and initially produced in Sweden. Manufacturing was moved to the U.K. in the 1930s and the AGA cooker is still produced there.
In 1988 Bruce Johnstone owner of Alpine Appliance was appointed as the Canadian representative for AGA. When it comes to the AGA, his knowledge of this iconic cooker is extensive.
As Bruce and staff often say, "Let us teach you how to cook a mouthwatering meal with ease the AGA way. On a conventional range, 80-90 percent of the food is “worked” on the top burners. In the AGA the reverse is the way. We use the multiple ovens and let them do the work while we enjoy family and friends. It's so effortless!” The AGA's ability to make a perfect meal is thanks to the precise and even radiant heat in each oven.
Alpine specializes in sales of new and rebuilt AGA's, providing knowledge, installation, and service of the iconic AGA brand and is the only full servicing dealer in Canada.
The traditional AGA requires a trained fitter upwards of 2-3 days from delivery to "firing up a build”. Each AGA cooker is hand-built in the traditional way of excellent craftsmanship!
New AGA cookers are delivered pre-assembled, in a variety of colours speeding up your ability to enjoy your meal the same day. The Total Control AGA cooker is revolutionary. You can control each oven's heat from "full to slumber mode" at the touch of a button.
Adding to the AGA line is the conventional range type of the Mercury and Elise models.

It all starts with uncrating and moving over 1650 lbs of cast iron in the residence. Careful setting up of the base and platform is required.
It is important that all the panels be sealed prior to building to maintain gasket integrity.
If the AGA is not set up correctly from the foundation of the build, the main components will not allow a level cooking surface. It is critical that each step is checked and double-checked before proceeding.
After all the checking, we now get to install the front face and do more gasket sealing and an audit of the build so far.
At this point, we have insulated and packed the insulating rock wool and vermiculite 3/4 of the way up. All gaskets and seals must be installed and another analysis of fittings and adjustments are completed.
More checking, adjusting, gas flue way sealing, all so critically important to the AGA and all of the components. Step by step it is coming together.
Great job Jeff !!
There is so much that goes into the assembling of a traditional AGA cooker. From the kitchen design many months back, even years in some cases, to the fuel services, the venting, delivery, and assembly.
